Topic 1 – Sep. 12, 12:30 – 2:20 – 2D Design & Laser cutting project
- Make some new friends
- Create a Logo using Canva & Inkscape
- Lasercut a name tag with your logo and name
- Talk about the types and uses of the tools we’ll be learning to use in the workshop series
Topic 2 – Sep. 26, 12:30 – 2:20 – Intro to Design Thinking, Maker Resources, and Personal Website Setup
- Discuss Design Thinking
- Get to know about local and online maker resources
- Set up a personal website
Topic 3 – Oct. 17, 12:30 – 2:20 – 3D Design with Autodesk TinkerCad or Autodesk Fusion
- Create a personal 3D ring model using Fusion 360 with your Topic 1 logo
-OR- Create a simple model using TinkerCad - Submit your personal model for 3D printing
Topic 4 – Oct. 24, 12:30 – 2:20 – 3D Printing & Additive Manufacturing
- Describe the most used 3D printer settings and how they affect print jobs
- Describe typical use cases for the following 3D print materials: PLA, PVA, PETG, & TPU-95
- Prepare and submit a 3D print job to the DSC
- Work on at least one additional 3D Design project in TinkerCad or Fusion
Topic 5 – Nov 7, 12:30 – 2:20 – Electronics Introduction with Arduino + Personal Project Brainstorming
- Make a follow-along basic Arduino project to develop skills
- OPTIONAL: Learn the basics of soldering
- Basic Arduino programming
- Brainstorm ideas for a personal project
Topic 6 – Nov 21, 12:30 – 2:20 – Internet of Things (IoT) + Personal Project Time
- Create an IoT project of your choice from 3 workshop activities
- Work on your personal project with assistance from DSC experts to assist
OPTIONAL Showcase – DATE TBD based on participant input, 12:30 – 2:20 – Personal Project Showcase
- Optionally, you can showcase your personal project to friends and others in the DSC at a galery walk for the workshop series.
